Our Story Hawthorne Country Store, Inc was started in 1998.Brian and Suzy Hawthorne with their daughter and son in Law, Heather and Terry Thelen, bought the existing McFadden Feed Co. with the intention of making it more than a feed store. The family had previously been in the industrial heavy equipment business. They wanted to create a business that they could raise the grandkids in and share their love of animals and the agricultural lifestyle. The old fashioned country store seemed the perfect melding of animal husbandry, gardening, hardware, food preservation, country gifts, western art, tack and clothing into the same space. This is a true family store; it is common to have kids running around the store, or loading for customers. Suzy is the home arts expert, Master Composter, and bookkeeper. Brian is the hardware and western tack guy. Terry loves the toys and is the best delivery driver ever. Heather is the equine specialist and go-to-girl. We focus on the simple, self-sufficient lifestyle; growing your own food, raising livestock, preserving food and the like. StaffMeet our friendly, helpful staff...Leslie Serviolo - A close family friend, has been with HCS since it opened it's doors. Leslie does the buying of all of the gifts, toys and much of the clothing and jewelry. She also is responsible for the winning Chick Days display for 2009, earning the store a very nice trophy.
