Organic Gardening
“As per The Whitney Farms Organically Driven Gardening Guide”
What is Organic Horticulture?According to Wikipedia, Organic horticulture is the science and art of growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, or ornamental plants by following the essential principles of organic agriculture in soil building and conservation, pest management, and heritage-species preservation.
What Plant Foods do you Need? The three nutrients plants need most are nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). These are so important that they are listed on the front of each Whitney Farms fertilizer package (N-P-K). Plants also need other elements, but in much smaller amounts.
Minerals are used tooDolomite, lime, greensand and sulfate of potash are just some of the minerals you may need. Some break down slowly and others can go to work quite fast. These and other natural materials are combined to provide plants with the nutrients they need.
